Job Purpose

To operate as a key member of the Engineering team developing and integrating components, hardware and control systems to meet Customer and Legislative requirements for engine performance, emissions, and efficiency. You will be working with a team of mechanical engineers, design engineers and technicians; design and development software, communication networks, and production of detailed high-quality documentation.

What you’ll need

The ideal candidate will have previously worked within the design and engineering industry, operating as a key member of a team developing and integrating components, hardware and control systems to meet customer and legislative focussed requirements.

You must be methodical and a strong self-starter, and willing to travel and work away from home.

Have the necessary skills to develop accurate estimates of cost, timing, etc. to enable effective programme management planning.

Demonstrate ambition, flexibility and confidence coupled with creativity, imagination, a desire to learn and a willingness to take on added responsibility together with strong leadership, communication and team-working skills.

Work following all Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental policies affecting his working area, including administrative Project Management processes.

Perform other duties, as required, judged by your supervising Engineer to be within your capability.

Qualification and Experience

Degree Qualified in Automotive, Mechanical or Electronics engineering.
3 years post-degree work experience in Automotive Powertrain development; Or
HNC/HND qualified with 5 years experience in Powertrain development.

The ideal candidate will have experience in some or all of the following for either Diesel or Gasoline:

  • Engine electronic control system calibration
  • Engine test
  • Vehicle test
  • Engine performance development
  • Emissions development
  • Drive Train
  • Auto and or manual transmission for 2/4 wheel drive
  • Intake system design and development
  • Exhaust system design and development
  • Exhaust after-treatment systems
  • Hybrid vehicles Fuel cell vehicles
  • Engine cooling circuit design and development
  • Vehicle cooling system design and development
  • Be skilled in using current analytical and product development IT tools relevant to engine software and control systems.
