CMB.TECH Namibia (CMB.TECH brings hydrogen to the industry | CMB TECH ) is looking for an enthusiastic, new colleague to join our Financial Accounting team in Walvis Bay, Namibia. In this position you will have an important role in the day-to-day administration, monthly closing process and process improvements. Additionally, this role you will be reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager in Antwerp and thus have the opportunity to co-operate with our Accounting team at our head office.

What are we looking for?

  • Responsible for the accuracy of accounting entries, maintain daily accounting documentation and data according to compliance standards.
  • Develop and maintain General Ledger, Account Payables, Account Receivables, Cash process via the company’s accounting system and complete relevant monthly reconciliations.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of the monthly and quarterly Financial Statements and disclosures
  • Prepare accounts receivable/payable aging lists and managing debtors and creditors, including KYC and compliance assessment.
  • Recording bank journals and preparing payments proposals.
  • Execution of weekly payment runs.
  • Prepare and submit local and international VAT (or equivalent) returns accurately and timeously and other local legal requirements, such as tax return preparation.
  • Prepare complete, accurate local fiscal reporting for review within deadlines.
  • Reconcile budget variances and request for additional funds if depleted.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal accounting procedures.
  • Planning and Preparing Annual Financial Statements as required by the Namibian legislation.
  • Preparing comments on the monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Taking part in projects to improve the Financial Processes.
  • Ad hoc reporting assignments and preparation of external audit. Liaising with the external auditor.
  • Keep yourself constantly informed of the evolutions within your domain.

What do you bring?

  • Grade 12 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Accounting (B. Acc. / B. Com. / B. Compt.) or equivalent degree.
  • Honours Degree in Accounting with CA certification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years Accounting experience.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP) preferably Oracle NetSuite.
  • Previous exposure to commodity marketing / invoicing requirements.
  • Experience on Large Capital projects will be a distinct advantage.
  • Creditors and debtors account management experience.
  • Experience in financial reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of both IFRS and FICO accounting principles.
  • Ability to set priorities, be flexible and highly accurate.
  • Hands-on with a can-do mentality.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid code B / BE Driver’s licence.
  • Must be a Namibian Citizen.
